National Foster Care Month: The Attic Resource Center

May 7, 2025

With May being National Foster Care Month, it is important to know that crucial component of foster or kinship care is supporting families so that children and youth can have the stability they need. The Attic Resource Center, now a program of One Accord for Kids, has become a cornerstone of support for these families, dedicated to serving local children and families involved in the child welfare system. The Attic, as it is more commonly known, provides essential items such as clothing, car seats, and beds at no cost, and ensures that children in foster or kinship care and have access to the resources necessary to thrive in their home.

One of the key aspects of The Attic Resource Center’s approach is our commitment to involving the community by accepting donations of clothing and other essential items. This allows individuals, churches, and businesses to contribute directly to the well-being of local children. These donations make an immediate impact, helping to provide comfort and security to those facing difficult transitions.

A primary focus of The Attic Resource Center is engaging local churches to help meet these needs. In addition to providing tangible resources, churches can bring their community around these families, ensuring that each child experiences love and support. By fostering these connections, they work toward creating a safe environment for children in need. Partnerships with our compassionate neighbors, local churches, and area businesses have made a huge impact on the children and families that The Attic serves, and we are so grateful for their part.
