West Texas Together is a community partnership for West Texas child welfare and foster care. Through the strong relationships and their tireless dedication, leaders in the Concho Valley have established a robust network of support for local families and youth.
One success story, recently, came from the High Sky Children’s Ranch LIFE program in San Angelo. A young man in their caseload recently graduated from high school—a significant milestone for both the youth and the community. To help this young man transition successfully, the High Sky team utilized several collaborative partners in impactful ways to make this transition as smooth as possible. The Concho Valley Child Services Board, Heart Gallery of West Texas, and New Journey San Angelo provided funding and support to celebrate his graduation and to get his new apartment setup. As he transitioned to his apartment, The Concho Valley Child Services Board and New Journey San Angelo also covered a hotel stay while waiting for his HUD voucher.
This story highlights power of a strong and connected community which made a tangible difference in the life of a young person aging out of foster care. Community is what we need to meet complex, real-world needs.
